Transfer Degree Pathway Guide
To receive admission to the J.B. Speed School of Engineering, students must have:
- 24 or more transferable credits from an accredited institution(s)
- 2.8 college GPA
- At least a B- grade in each of the following courses: ENGR 100 (or equivalent) OR Pre-Calculus (MATH 190 or equivalent), and Intro to Chemistry (CHEM 101 or equivalent)
- It is recommended students successfully complete Physics I (PHYS 298 or equivalent) before transferring to the J.B. Speed School of Engineering.
The baccalaureate degree is the undergraduate degree offered by the university. It is awarded to students who have completed both university-wide requirements and the requirements of the selected degree program. The following university-wide requirements apply to all baccalaureate degrees.
The student must:
- Complete all Cardinal Core requirements.
- Complete all required courses and program requirements.
- Have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.25.
- Complete 120 hours applicable to this program.
- Complete at least 60 hours at an accredited four-year institution.

- All admitted transfer students are required to meet with a University of Louisville academic advisor prior to registering for classes. During your advising appointment, your academic advisor will assess your transfer credit and provide a timeline to degree completion.
- The J.B. School of Engineering has the following deadlines for their application:
- Fall - August 1st
- Spring - December 1st
- Summer - April 1st
