Paying for College and Applying for Financial Assistance

The University of Louisville is committed to guiding you through the process of investing in your future. We are here to help you learn about the financial aid process and affording college.

Types of Aid

There are multiple financial aid and scholarship opportunities available. Learn more about these funding types and how to apply for aid.
Scholarships
A form of gift aid that does not have to be repaid. UofL offers automatic admissions scholarships, competitive and mentored scholarships and more.
Work-Study
Eligible students can participate in Federal Work-Study, a federally funded program that helps students pay for college through on- or off-campus work.
Grants
Students who demonstrate significant financial need may qualify for need-based, federal and/or state grant programs. Grants do not have to be repaid.
Loans
If other funding doesn’t cover college costs, you might consider a loan. Loans must be repaid, but federal loans typically offer the lowest interest.
