Job Summary

Direct and control Instructional Technology/Instructional Support Services, a major Information Technology unit, with budgetary and project accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and manage the human resources of the unit including personnel functions (recruiting, hiring, training, career planning, staff development and training, evaluation, discipline, etc.), cultivating team management and productivity.

Encourage innovation and improved delivery of services, including: instructional design, instructional support, multimedia support, Planetarium, teleconference scheduling, media distribution (AV), training and telecourse coordination.

Develop and implement the long range and short term service plans for the unit. Coordinate planning with other IT service units and assist with IT-wide planning efforts.

Prepare and manage budget including resource deployment and revenue generation, monitor expenditures and revenue, and manage projects including staffing and scheduling.

Develop and promote the unit's relationship with its customers and other IT service units. Maintain service levels and customer satisfaction.

Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Liberal Arts, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education-Training and Development, Educational Administration, Continuing Education, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.


Seven years of related experience. Higher education experience preferred.
