About our Department
The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is a vital and vibrant department within the College of Arts and Sciences. Our mission encompasses Science, Diversity and Translation of Science to the Community. Our Department graduates the most undergraduate majors in the College with B.A. and B.S. degrees and minors, including one associated with the undergraduate neuroscience degree. Over 90 graduate students are currently enrolled in the department's graduate programs. In addition to the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology, which has 8 faculty mentors, we also have a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology, with 13 faculty mentors, with specialization areas in Cognitive and Developmental Sciences and Vision and Hearing Sciences and an affiliation with doctoral Interdisciplinary Studies that specializes in Translational Neuroscience.
Our mission is to:
(1) provide scientifically rigorous and high quality undergraduate and graduate education that will prepare students to be critical consumers of scientific research and educated citizens in a diverse world;
(2) foster excellence in basic and applied psychological research; and
(3) provide scientific partnership and outreach to the community.
