Two Dimension Threshold Model for Medical Decision Making
Two previous threshold approaches to medical decision making,
one using the clinician's estimate of the probability that the patient has
the disease and the other using the patient's utility for his/her current
health state, were combined. We derived a two dimensional threshold
space for deciding to treat or not treat. The case where an additional
diagnostic test was available was also explored. The situation where
more than one treatment choice is available, which is more interesting
with a two dimensional space than with the traditional one dimensional
threshold, was also explored.
