The PhD Program in Microbiology and Immunology provides mentor-based training to prepare students for careers in academia, industry, or government laboratories. Degree requirements are flexible to allow for programs of study that are tailored to the needs of individual students. Foundational concepts are established in classroom environments, but development of independent research skills is the primary goal of the program. This is achieved through mentored dissertation research under the guidance of faculty with active research programs in microbiology and immunology.
