Six Outstanding Nurses Honored
On Thursday, November 6, more than 250 students, faculty, and alumni of the University of Louisville School of Nursing along with several members of the Kentuckiana nursing community gathered to recognize six outstanding nurses at the inaugural Florence Nightingale Awards in Nursing.
The celebration at the Mellwood Arts Center in Louisville began with a receptionthat reunited men and women from every aspect of the Kentucky nursing community.
Dean Marcia Hern and emcee Candyce Clift honored the six award winners, each of whom took a moment to address the guests. UofL President James Ramsey and Executive Vice President for Health Affairs David Dunn were on hand to celebrate the achievements of the honorees and the School of Nursing.
Associate Dean Topsy Staten described the evening as “a wonderful event. Each story shared was a reminder of why being a nurse is so rewarding. Each nurse honored was an amazing role model for making a difference for years in a career always with compassion and altruism.”
The Florence Nightingale Awards in Nursing marked the end of the 40th Anniversary year of the School of Nursing. May there be many more awards and years to come.
