Rankin selected for AACN Faculty Policy Intensive

Audra Rankin, DNP, APRN, CPNP

UofL nursing school faculty Audra N. Rankin, DNP, APRN, CPNP, is one of eight selected through a competitive process to participate in a four-day fully-funded American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Faculty Policy Intensive in Washington, DC March 21-24, 2016.

According to the AACN, the immersion program "is designed for faculty of AACN member schools  interested in pursuing a role in healthcare policy. The Intensive offers participants the opportunity to enhance existing knowledge of policy and advocacy through sessions that will strengthen understanding of the legislative process and the dynamic relationships between federal departments and agencies, collaborative partnerships, and the individual advocate."

"I am thrilled to represent the University of Louisville and AACN as a Faculty Policy Intensive Fellow, and look forward to the opportunity to establish collaborative partnerships that will strengthen national policy initiatives in nursing education," Rankin said.

At the conclusion of the program, Rankin will be recognized as an AACN Faculty Policy Fellow and added to the organization's network of policy experts. As a policy leader, she may be asked to provide testimony, serve as a presenter or consultant for Congressional briefings or AACN events, or engage other faculty members in Kentucky on AACN advocacy actions. In collaboration with her cohort and the AACN Government Affairs staff, Rankin also will select a project to inform AACN membership on a policy topic.
