Dr. Wei earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of North Carolina (UNC) - Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on organizational culture, leadership development, epigenetic biomarkers, and health promotion. Dr. Wei has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and delivered more than 80 presentations, influencing thousands of nurses globally. Some of her articles are top read, downloaded, and cited in journals. She is known nationally and internationally for her nursing practice models and Convergent Care Theory. Several hospitals have used her nursing models and theory to guide practice and promote organizational culture and patient care.
Dr. Wei holds three nursing journals’ Advisory and Editorial Board positions and serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal for Human Caring. She is a Board of Directors for the International Association of Human Caring. Her book,Visionary Leadership in Healthcare, is published by Sigma International. The book was ranked #1 New Release in Hospital Administration and #1 New Release in Nursing Administration on Amazon in March 2022. This book comes with a Facilitator Guide and Workbook.
Dr. Wei is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) and has received numerous prestigious awards. The recent awards include an Inaugural Research Scholarship Award, the International Leininger Caring-Culture Award, the Board of Governors Distinguished Professor for Teaching, Outstanding Research Scholar, DAISY Extraordinary Faculty, and the North Carolina Nurses Association Nurse Educator of the Year. The awards affirm her contributions and influences in nursing locally and globally.
