We are looking forward to seeing you in Honors Advising this semester!  Please review the following information to find out how to meet with your Honors advisor this semester.

Still need to meet with an Honors advisor before Priority Registration? Check out our Honors Log-In Advising information here!

All students will have a Pre-Registration Questionnaire hold on their accounts.  To remove this hold, please complete the questionnaire on your To Do List on ULink as soon as possible.  Detailed instructions are available here.

For helpful tips regarding Priority Registration for Summer and Fall 2024, please visit this page.

Who is required to see an Honors advisor?

  • All Honors students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences with fewer than 24 hours earned or over 45 hours earned without an approved major (earned hours do not include Spring 2024 classes)
  • Any current Honors student who wishes to take a Scholars Seminar in Fall 2024
    • If you are an Honors Scholar, and you are aiming to graduate in December 2024, please note that you will have first pick of the Fall 2024 Scholars Seminars (with the exception of travel seminars) and may email Sandra Lerner  (sandra.lerner@louisville.edu) with your seminar requests that will help you complete your Scholars program requirements by the time you plan to graduate.  Sandra will accept these emails from graduating Scholars from Thurs., 2/8 through Friday, 2/9 at noon.  After 2/9, graduating Scholars will need to wait until their Honors advising appointments to reserve any further seminar seats.  The Fall 2024 Scholars Seminars and their descriptions will be posted to the Honors website and linked from the QuickLinks at the bottom of the page on 2/9.

Who is not required to see an Honors advisor?

    • Students not currently active in Honors or Honors Scholars
    • Honors students who are planning to graduate in May or August 2024
    • Honors students who do not wish to take a Scholars Seminar in Fall 2024

    The Timeline

*Please note: We have made some adjustments to our Honors Advisor assignments this semester.  While we worked to preserve most established Honors advisor assignments, some did change, so you may receive your campaign email invitation from a different Honors Advisor than previously.  The subject line will be,"[student name], here is your UofL Honors [Scholars] Advising Campaign Link."

    Honors Advising Appointments

This semester, a variety of virtual and in-person appointment opportunities will be available in Honors.  Please select the option that works best for your schedule and comfort level:

    • Virtual Appointments:
        • Please log in to MS Teams at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment date/time. Your Honors advisor will reach out to you via instant message on Teams to let you know when they're ready to meet, and they will initiate the video call.  If your Honors advisor messages you and doesn't receive a response by 10 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, you will be required to reschedule for a later date/time subject to counselor availability.
        • Find a safe, quiet, stationary space for the video call where you will be able to focus on the advising conversation. We will be discussing your confidential academic information among other topics that you'd like to address, so please keep that in mind when setting up.  We also will be sharing our screens with you, so we won't be able to advise you safely and to the best of our abilities if you are driving or otherwise distracted during the appointment call.
        • We prefer to connect with you over a video call instead of voice-only, but please let us know if technology or other circumstances are keeping that from being possible for you, and we will work with you.
        • Please allow some time for your advisor to contact you from the start of your appointment time.  It is possible that they are still wrapping up a previous advising meeting right beforehand, but they will contact you via message before they start your video call.  If it has been 20 minutes or more since the scheduled start of your meeting, and you haven't yet heard from your advisor, please contact Honors at honors@louisville.edu or 502-852-6293 for assistance.
      • In-Person Appointments:
        • In-person Honors advising appointments will be held in the Etscorn Honors Center, Strickler Hall, Rm. 126.
        • To check in on the day of your appointment, please speak to a staff member at the front desk of the Etscorn Honors Center in SK 126.  After you are checked in, your advisor will come out to greet you in the lobby.
        • While masks are no longer required, they are welcome if students choose to wear them.  If you are feeling ill or have recently been exposed to COVID-19, please contact your Honors advisor in advance of your appointment time to make alternative arrangements.

      No Longer Active in Honors:

      • In the event that you are no longer a member of the University Honors Program, you should seek out advising from your home academic advising unit.  Please feel free to contact us at honors@louisville.edu with any questions you may have about your status in the program.
      • If you need more information about who to see within your home academic advising unit, we recommend that you log into your CardSmart account and check your list of assigned advisors on the lower right-hand side of your main dashboard.
      • If you were previously in Honors, and your cumulative UofL GPA is at or above the Honors minimum threshold (3.35), please consider requesting to Reinstate in Honors on our webform here.
      • If you are not in Honors, but you're interested in enrolling in an Honors course for Summer or Fall 2024, and your cumulative UofL GPA is at or above the Honors minimum threshold (3.35), please contact us at honors@louisville.edu to inquire about class availability and permission starting Monday, April 1.

If you have questions or encounter technical difficulties with scheduling your Honors advising appointment in CardSmart, please contact the front desk of the Etscorn Honors Center at 502-852-6293 or via email at honors@louisville.edu.
