Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The Honors Program strongly encourages students to participate in research and facilitates opportunities for students to collaborate with faculty in pursuing undergraduate research at the University of Louisville. Research opportunities are available in all academic units for students as early as freshman year.

  • Students can apply to the Undergraduate Research Scholar program to support and fund research experience working closely with faculty mentors.
  • The Undergraduate Research Symposium each spring gives students the opportunity to share their research university-wide and engage with faculty and peers.
  • The Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) provides undergraduate students with the chance to learn more about graduate-level education through a 10-week research experience in a department that offers graduate degrees. As part of the program, students will be mentored in an individualized research project and participate in seminars related to research and graduate education.
  • Honors students have the options of completing a Senior Honors Thesis.

In addition, the Office of National and International Scholarships within the Honors Program provides mentoring, resources, and networking for students pursuing competitive merit awards such as the Truman, Rhodes, and Fulbright.
