Lodging

The 2019 Great Lakes Conference falls on a busy weekend for Louisville this year. As such, we encourage you to book your accommodations as early as possible.

We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at Holiday Inn & Express Suites Louisville Downtown for Thursday, 4/11/19, and Friday, 4/12/19. The rate for attendees reserving a blocked room is $119 per night (excluding taxes). Please note that there are a limited number of rooms available and reservations. Because of city events, the hotel released these rooms on 2/15/19. However, some individuals were able to reserve rooms at this hotel under this price after this date.

Those seeking alternative lodging will find that there are a variety of hotels in the downtown area and near campus, and Airbnb may offer options closer to campus and at a wider price range. Please book early for availability. We have listed a select few options below that have indicated availability from a wide price range.

Transportation

Transportation to/from airport: Taxis, Lyft, or Uber are available. In addition, the Louisville city bus system, TARC, has a bus route (#2) from the airport straight to campus (3rd & Brandeis stop), or to downtown. For those staying in downtown Louisville, the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus is located about five miles south of downtown.

Explore Louisville

Louisville is a foodie paradise, with a seemingly ever-growing collection of restaurants to explore, some of which are featured in the 16th season of the television show Top Chef. For those wanting to try one of the city’s signature dishes, check out the Hot Brown, which originated in the Brown Hotel but can be found on the menus of many restaurants in the city. Yelp is a good resource for specific restaurant recommendations, though you can find plenty of good options by exploring one of the city’s popular areas, which include the neighborhoods along Bardstown Road and Frankfort Avenue, downtown and the nearby NuLu district, or the historic neighborhoods near Belknap Campus: Old Louisville and Germantown.
