Calling all Cards! Join Louisville Alumni and the Office of Community Engagement in collaboration with the Cultural Center, the Multicultural Teacher Recruitment Program, and the African American Alumni Council as we participate in the Eagles at Rest Project.
The
Eagles to Rest Project is a project spearheaded by the National Association for Black Veterans (NABVETS), Region VI which is focused on restoring the Greenwood Cemetery. The Greenwood Cemetery is where hundreds of Black military veterans are buried but, it is one of the many historic African American cemeteries across the nation that have been neglected. The goal of the project is to provide the veterans with dignity, care and respect in death that they had been denied in life.
We invite you to join us as we work to clean and restore the Greenwood Cemetery. Volunteer work can include cleaning, righting fallen gravestones, recording gravestone inscriptions, cutting the grass and raking the leaves.
Join us on Saturday, June 19 from 8:30am – 11:30am, volunteers can participate in the service project. Please use the registration button to register for the day(s) that fit your schedule.
We request that all volunteers wear a mask and practice social distancing while participating in the service project.
