Presentation Description

Members of the immigrant community experience many challenges in their fight against poverty. Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP) seeks to promote community development and eradicate poverty across the United States and internationally. It does so by entering into partnerships with groups of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people who want to change their lives and communities. In these partnerships, community members benefit from, own, and control the project. Join us to learn about this amazing partnership between Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People and low-income immigrant communities and ways these communities are working to alleviate poverty and other social/economic justice issues. Come prepared to discuss possible ways you can collaborate with them. This presentation will highlight some of the funded projects and explore how faculty and students can engaged in these initiatives and give back to the community.
