Competency-Based Degree Programs
According with the U.S. Department of Education, the Competency-Based Education model is a way of “transitioning away from seat time, in favor of a structure that creates flexibility, allows students to progress as they demonstrate mastery of academic content, regardless of time, place, or pace of learning. Competency-based strategies provide flexibility in the way that credit can be earned or awarded, and provide students with personalized learning opportunities.”
Competencies are typically defined as abilities, knowledge and skills that enable a person to do something successfully or efficiently and to act effectively in a job or situation within an organization.
The University of Louisville is proud to introduce its first Competency-Based Education (CBE) program for experienced healthcare professionals who have some college credits and/or extensive work-knowledge and are seeking to complete a bachelor’s degree in healthcare leadership.
