Advance Your Education Online at UofL

In anticipation of your next step in pursuing an advanced education, we put together a collection of resources to help you move forward and be successful, here at UofL and beyond.

Transfer Credit

Transferring previously earned education credits to UofL is fairly quick and trouble-free, but we’re here to help with any questions or concerns you have about getting started.

  • Undergraduate Students

Students may transfer up to 60 hours from a community college and up to 90 hours from an accredited four-year college. To get an idea of how many credits you'll be able to transfer toward your UofL bachelor's degree, complete the credit transfer pre-evaluation. Students submit transcripts from all undergraduate institutions attended as part of the admissions process. Upon review, some or all credit may be applied to the degree program selected.

Ideally, students transfer to UofL with a completed associate degree from an accredited institution to maximize credit transfer*. Students who have been enrolled at a Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) school and have fulfilled all of their general education requirements can have all of those credits transferred in block and can then begin immediately with the upper-level coursework. Students who have not completed an associate's degree but have completed most or all general education requirements may be able to complete the remaining courses at UofL.

Transferring previously earned education credits to UofL can be quick and trouble-free, but every situation is different and we’re here to help with any questions or concerns you have about getting started. Reach out today at  online@louisville.edu to speak to one of our dedicated enrollment counselors. See the  UofL Transfer Credit Policy  for more information

  • Graduate Students

If you’re pursuing a master’s degree and considering transferring to the University of Louisville (UofL), you’re in the right place. For most online master’s programs, students may transfer up to six credit hours of graduate coursework from an accredited university (may require department approval).

UofL currently offers online master's degrees in business, computer science, education/teaching, engineering, health administration, higher education administration, leadership, public health, social work and more. We also offer various graduate certificate programs that allow you to advance your education in just a few courses.

You can also use most UofL online graduate certificate programs as a starting place, with the option to roll your credits into a master's program whenever you're ready.

What are the benefits of the ULtra program?

ULtra provides students with an opportunity to speak with an advisor to ensure the coursework being taken are the right classes for your UofL intended major. You will also receive a UofL student ID, better known as the Cardinal Card.
