Brandeis Law arbitration team looks to national championship

The Brandeis School of Law arbitration team will advance to the national championships of the American Bar Association's Law Student Division Arbitration Competition, held in Chicago January 19-20, 2018.

On Nov. 10-11, 2017, the team won rounds against teams from American University Law School and Creighton Law School to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, they beat a team from Drake University Law School to advance to the finals and placed second overall.

The team's coach is attorney and Brandeis alumnus Mike Lawrence. Professor Ariana Levinson is the team's faculty advisor. The team consisted of Chelsea Dermody, Spencer Probst, Matthew Purdom and Maria Tipton. They were also helped in practice by Dallas Selvy and many other Brandeis graduates, including Dale Hardy, Jamie Izlar, Phil Longmeyer and Derek Miles. Their alternates, Andrew Skomorowsky and Tomsen Leonard, and facilitator, Nicola Pharai, also greatly contributed to the team’s success.
