Ryan Apperson

Ryan Apperson has earned the Boren Scholarship to study Turkish at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Middle East and Mediterranean Language Program and Azerbaijan University of Languages in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Boren Scholarships, sponsored by the National Security Education Program, provide undergraduate and graduate students in all fields of study with funding for up to one year of immersive study abroad in languages and regions of interest to U.S. national security.

My Boren Scholarship for me represents the culmination of several years of considering how to employ my cultural and intellectual interests in a future occupation. It’s given me the opportunity to take those interests out into the world and do something meaningful with them."

Undergraduate Achievements:

Graduated May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a minor in philosophy, politics and economics.
