Mary Churchill Humphrey Scholarship
UofL alumna Kara Stivers has received the Mary Churchill Humphrey Scholarship. The prize is awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences. Stivers will use the award to pursue a master’s degree at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
“The Mary Churchill Humphrey Scholarship will allow me to build on the educational experiences I had at UofL by enabling me to pursue a master’s degree in Russian and East European studies at Oxford University. The chance to study outside the U. S. will give me the opportunity to travel to new places, meet new people, and see the world with fresh eyes. I am grateful for this opportunity to study in the United Kingdom, and I look forward to attending the University of Oxford as a member of St. Antony’s College in the fall of 2017."

Dr. Patricia Condon - without her help and knowledge, I would certainly not have had this opportunity.
Dr. Charles Ziegler invested so much time and energy into helping me learn and grow in my field of study.
Dr. Buckley and Dr. Randall Dills [former faculty member], Dr. Bowman, Dr. Beattie, and Professor Dumstorf were professors who had a huge impact on my academic direction and abilities. They pushed me to be a better student and a better scholar.
Dr. Grady was not only an advisor and a friend to me at UofL, but he also taught me more in his classes than all my other classes combined. He is hands down the single best professor I ever had at the University, and without his influence, his advice, and his classes, I would not be where I am today.
