Dawson Stephens passes his thesis defense
Dawson Stephens successfully defended his undergraduate honors thesis titled "Adjusting for Speaking Rate when Perceiving Speech in Background Noise". When we adjust to a talker's speaking rate (through speaking rate normalization, a.k.a temporal contrast effects), we adjust to similar degrees when hearing the same talker speak one sentence, two sentences diotically (smashed together and presented to both ears), and two sentences dichotically (different sentence to each ear). Congratulations Dawson!
