Dr. Stilp awarded internal grant
Dr. Stilp was the recipient of a University of Louisville Office of Research Development and Strategic Initiatives Programmatic Support Grant for his project titled “Development of Expertise in Perception of Speech and Music”. This one-year grant how the ongoing accumulation of expertise in new domains (musical training, second language learning) compares to listeners' well-established expertise in a familiar domain (native language perception). Cross-sectional experiments will be conducted online to examine how listener populations with varying amounts of musical experience or varying durations of foreign language instruction overcome stimulus variability as compared to overcoming variability in their primary language.
