2014 Student Award Reception

Stanley A. Murrell Scientist-Practitioner Award

The clinical psychology faculty established the Stanley A. Murrell Scientist-Practitioner Award to be awarded annually to an advanced student exemplifying the scientist-practitioner model. The award honors Dr. Murrell's commitment to empirically-supported clinical practice and his generous support of current and future training in the Psychological Services Center.

Eligible students will have advanced to candidacy (by passing their preliminary examination) but not yet begun their internship. Nominations are made by faculty, clinical supervisors, and peers based on the following criteria: 1) excellence in research, as evidenced by publications and conference presentations, and other scholarly contributions, 2) excellence in research-supported clinical practice, as evidenced by supervisor evaluations, peer commentary, or other materials supplied by nominators.

The winner, selected by the faculty, is announced at a program reception. We recently presented the annual SAM award in July 2014 to Ms. Jenny Petrie. Congratulations, Jenny!

Peer Mentoring Award

This year, we also presented the first annual Peer Mentoring Award. Clinical psychology students established the Peer Mentoring Award to be awarded annually to a student exemplifying stellar mentorship qualities amongst their peers. The winner is nominated then voted on by their fellow students. We presented the Peer Mentoring Award this year to Mrs. Whitney Rebholz. Congratulations, Whitney!
