This program can is completed 100% online. The Competency-Based Education Flex option is closed to admission.
This program offers academic flexibility; all program/major courses required for completion are routinely offered in accelerated format (e.g. 8-week terms). However, some options for general education (Cardinal Core) or Supplemental Math or College Reading courses may not be available in an accelerated format.
The Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning with a focus on Healthcare Leadership allows healthcare professionals to capitalize on existing knowledge and experience, and earn a bachelor’s degree that can further enhance your skills in leadership, organizational change, workplace development and performance and attain higher-level positions in your organization.
UofL’s Healthcare Leadership program is the first of its kind in the state and region, with a curriculum based on the National Center for Healthcare Leadership’s (NCHL.org) competency model, which is one of the leading industry standard models for healthcare executive competencies development.
This program is essential for individuals who have acquired experience in the healthcare field, but are missing the proper credentials for promotions within their organization, increased pay, or management and leadership roles.

The program is offered in a Term Option. Students enroll in half-term courses and complete each course within a predetermined time frame. This option allows students to follow a more structured and traditional university schedule while taking advantage of accelerated sessions. Two half-term sessions will be available in Fall and Spring and one session will be available in the Summer.
Students may start the program at the beginning of the Fall and Spring terms, at the beginning of the second half of the Fall or Spring terms, or in the summer semester. This allows students to start the program several times per year, and enroll in half-term session courses. All coursework must be completed within the half-term period. Tuition and fees in Term Option enrollments may be refunded in accordance with normal university policies.
Departmental Admission Requirements
Applicants to the BS in Organizational Leadership and Learning with a track in Healthcare Leadership must have a 2.25 cumulative GPA in college level courses and at least 2,000 hours (approximately one year) of healthcare experience across a wide variety of organizational settings.
Additionally, applicants are recommended to have at least 24 hours of transferable credit.
Applicants who have a cumulative GPA below 2.25 or less than 2,000 hours of healthcare experience, may be considered for conditional admission.

Students must complete major courses with a C- level or higher to successfully complete a program course. If a student does not achieve a C- or higher in a program course before the end of the term, then the student will receive the highest grade earned during the course, or F if the student fails to submit required deliverables.
One repetition for each major course is permitted without department approval for additional repeats. If a student does not earn a C- or higher in the repeated course, then the student could be dropped from the program.
Exit Requirements: A minimum of 120 hours with an overall GPA of 2.25 is required for completion, with a 2.5 GPA required in the major courses. All major course grades must be a C- or better. Thirty-one hours of general education credit are required. A minimum of 50 hours of credit at the 300 level or above are required, along with satisfactory completion of the Program Portfolio.

LEAD 290, LEAD 291, LEAD 390, and LEAD 391 are the Work Specialization/Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) courses. A minimum of 9 hours of Work Specialization/Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit is required to satisfy degree requirements. However, students may earn a maximum of 48 credit hours cumulatively across all Work Specialization/Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) courses based upon their prior work experience. Depending upon students' number of awarded PLA credits and selected track, students may need elective coursework to reach the minimum 120 hours required for the degree.

Students who have earned Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credits from another major or program may not request PLA credit through the BS in Organizational Leadership and Learning major, without demonstrating additional work experience that was not previously awarded PLA hours. Total PLA credit hours counted toward a BS in OLL degree may not exceed 48 hours.
