Porter Scholarship
Eligibility & Award
The Porter Scholarship provides aid for high-achieving, Pell-eligible, first-time freshmen who reside in Jefferson County or graduate from a high school located in Jefferson County. This scholarship is designed to give students access to a top-tier educational experience without financial stress
Students who are accepted to UofL, submitted the FAFSA, and are Pell eligible will be considered. A separate scholarship application is not required. The priority deadline to be considered for the scholarship is Dec. 1.
Porter Scholarships are available until funding is exhausted.

Porter Scholarship Renewal
- The Porter Scholarship is only awarded for fall and spring semesters, not summer. Students in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering will receive this award for their first summer semester.
- The Porter Scholarship is renewable for 8 semesters. It is renewable for 9 semesters for engineering students.
- Students need to maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Renewal Criteria
- Must be enrolled full-time each semester to receive the award.
- Must maintain continuous attendance (does not include summers).
- Must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
