What undergraduate and graduate degrees do you have?
I have a General Studies Associate of Science from Cleveland State Community College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a track in Law and Public Policy from University of Louisville.

What is your hometown?
I was raised a Navy brat, so I don’t have a true hometown. I was recruited into the Army from Orlando, but I have not been back to Florida in over eight years. I would say Louisville is my hometown now!

What do you love most about your family?
The ability to laugh at almost everything. Family dinners with my in-laws are one of my favorite things because there is constant laughter and jokes.

What made you want to serve your country?
I came from a family of service and the military has always felt like home. I chose to join the Army instead of the Navy because, as I told my mother, “I want to be more hardcore than you, but not Marine hardcore."

What are you most proud of as a member of the service?
I am proud of the bonds that I created with my fellow soldiers. Even though we do not speak on a daily basis, when something happens, we are all there.  Lindsay Cress

Why do you want to be a lawyer?
I want to be a lawyer because I enjoy researching and problem solving. I appreciate the law because there are both rules that must be followed and wiggle room to make the rules work for you.

What do you like most about Louisville Law?
I love Louisville Law because of the ability to bond with both students and professors. I attended a recruiting event at Louisville Law and felt like a bride finding her wedding dress … Louisville is home.

In five years, I want to be...
I would love to be working at a firm working in labor and employment law. I would also love to be able to help veterans navigate through the bureaucracy of the Veterans Administration.

How have you changed since you started law school?
I am more analytical than I already was … not something that my husband always appreciates. If he makes a joke that is based on an improper premise, it is now a reflex to say, “That’s not right…that doesn’t make sense.”

What would you tell a 1L about law school and/or life?
There is a lot of work and a lot of discipline required to succeed, but it’s nothing that you haven’t done before. At the end of the day, the stress you experience will be a blip on the radar and you will be better for having gone through the process.

How do you cope when times are challenging?
I spend Sunday with my husband binge watching television every week (unless I have an additional due date for Law Review). This allows me a day to decompress before another week of school. When I am stressed while studying, I take a minute and watch Real Housewives or videos about stationary on YouTube to get myself out of a negative headspace.

Your favorite quote?
“The ocean is fluent in every language and still chooses to speak with meaning. She tells me 'Never pay attention to those who speak ill of you. You were not born half sea so you could listen to the chattering of tiny rivers. You were born to swallow them.'” - Pavana Reddy
