Human Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC)

The University of Louisville Human Resource Advisory Committee (HRAC) serves as a consultative and advisory body between the university shared governance bodies and the Office for Human Resources.

Membership

The HRAC committee reports to the Vice President for Human Resources. The composition of the committee will consist of representatives from faculty and staff senates. The representation will be a mix of both academic and administrative units. Appointment to the committee will come from the Vice President for Human Resources with nominations from both the faculty and staff senate chairs. Each appointment will be for two years and renewable once. The members’ terms will be staggered to ensure the committee does not turnover all at once.

Roles and Responsibilities

The HR Advisory Committee may:

  • Review and provide feedback on HR policies, programs, and proposed changes
  • Advise on employee experience, workplace culture, and staff well‑being
  • Offer input on recruitment, retention, and talent‑management strategies
  • Identify communication needs and recommend improvements
  • Surface campus‑wide themes, concerns, and opportunities
  • Support HR in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and initiatives
  • Provide feedback on HR strategic planning and performance indicators

Meeting Cadence

The committee will meet twice a month (one in-person and one virtually) unless unforeseen circumstances occur. Agendas will be distributed in advance, and minutes will be taken, posted, and shared with members. While reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate members' schedules, individuals who are unable to consistently participate may be required to forfeit their membership so another representative can serve in their place.
