Steps for Applicants
1
Assemble your tax and income information, such as your W2s and 1040s.
2
Create an FSA ID
Create an FSA ID if you don't already have one. An FSA ID gives you access to Federal Student Aid's online systems and can serve as your legal signature.

File your FAFSA
Go to studentaid.gov to file your FAFSA. Our FAFSA school code is 001999. If eligible to do so, import tax data into your FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.
4
Receive your FAFSA Submission Summary
Once your FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education, you will be sent a FAFSA Submission Summary, which is a summary of the FAFSA information you submitted.
5
Review your FAFSA Submission Summary
When you receive your FAFSA Submission Summary, review it carefully to make sure the information is correct and complete, and ensure you keep a copy for your records. If you review your FAFSA Submission Summary and find a mistake, you will need to correct or update your FAFSA. Once you are awarded aid, please contact our office prior to making any corrections to your FAFSA.
We receive the results of FAFSA applications electronically. In some cases the U.S. Department of Education requires us to collect additional information from you, so you may be selected for a process called “verification”. We may also need to resolve conflicting information reported on your FAFSA. We will notify you by email (or mail if you have opted out of email correspondence) if additional information is required to complete your file. In most cases, the requested documents will be available on your ULink To Do List. View our ULink tutorials for assistance on how to access these forms.
The priority date to have a complete financial aid file for fall is early July. A complete financial aid file includes an official processed FAFSA, all requested documents and notice of any other financial aid resources which are not listed with the Student Financial Aid Office. If you submit requested documents after the early July date, you may not have anticipated aid awarded to settle all or a portion of your fall bill, and you will need to settle your charges through other means. Other methods for settling your account are available on the Bursar's Office website. If we receive notification of scholarships you will or have received after you have been awarded aid, we will reevaluate and other aid awards may be adjusted.
