The University of Louisville College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is delighted to announce the addition of four distinguished alumni to the college’s affiliate faculty. These individuals were selected based on their experience in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), their status as graduates of CEHD programs, and their expertise in developing school leaders.
As partner faculty members, they will play an integral role in enhancing the educational experience of CEHD students our in educational leadership programs.
Five-time alumni, Kara Ammerman ’07, ’08, ’13, ’16, ’23, joins us as the Principal of Echo Trail Middle School, which is scheduled to open its doors this fall. Ammerman’s educational background includes a bachelor of science degree in health and human performance (’07), a master of arts in teaching (’08), a specialist degree in education in educational administration with a concentration in principalship (’13), a doctor of education (’16) and a superintendent certification (’23).
Nicole Fields ’20, a Counselor at Grace James Academy of Excellence, Jefferson County Public Schools, brings her expertise in social emotional learning and community engagement to the CEHD. She holds a doctor of education in educational leadership and organizational development (‘20) from the CEHD.
Rob Fulk ’21, is the Assistant Superintendent Middle Schools, Jefferson County Public Schools and is highly rated as an adjunct professor among our students. Fulk specializes in providing multiple perspectives on leadership and real-world experiences that add depth and context to the coursework. He holds a doctor of education in educational leadership and organizational development (‘21) from the CEHD.
Terra Greenwell ’18, joins us as the Chief Academic Officer of Jefferson County Public Schools. Greenwell holds a doctor of education in educational leadership and organizational development (‘18) from the CEHD and plays a crucial role in sharing updates and initiatives with the principal preparation programs. This effort ensures that aspiring leaders are equipped with the most current knowledge and practices required for JCPS positions.
These individuals have been instrumental in redesigning the CEHD principal preparation program to foster equity-centered school leadership. They are currently mentoring JCPS employees, through their educational leadership programs by providing them with unique experiences and valuable insights.
Their efforts have focused on integrating practices that address the JCPS Three Pillars (Equity, Culture, Backpack of Skills) and the Six Instructional Systems on which JCPS bases its instructional programming. Additionally, they have played a key role in launching our JCPS Ed.S. (Education Specialist) cohort for principal preparation in January 2023, with graduation scheduled for August 2024.
The CEHD is proud to welcome these accomplished individuals as they embark on a new chapter in their relationship with our college. Their connection to our institution through the partnership with JCPS further strengthens our commitment to excellence in education.
