Raymond Chastain
Biography
Dr. Raymond Chastain is an Associate Professor - Term in the Department of Information Systems, Analytics & Operations at the University of Louisville. His focus is on teaching statistics, working with both the Business Statistics and Data Analytics courses. As an instructor for twenty years, Dr. Chastain's goal is to help students discover how math can be used to model systems and solve problems of interest.
Research Interests
The primary focus of Dr. Chastain’s research is taking advantage of our increasing understanding of how people learn to improve instruction and support for students in the statistics and calculus sequences. Current projects include investigating the mechanisms driving the benefits of exploratory learning and the impact that deliberate practice can have on students' ability to successfully translate between verbal and mathematical statements of a problem.
