Biography

Michael Ramach has written, directed and produced over 300 plays, music theatre pieces, and operas in his 50-year tenure as a theatrical professional. Mr. Ramach has directed extensively throughout the United States. Mr. Ramach was the Founder and Producing Director of Triangle Theatre Company in New York City for eight seasons. At La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in New York, where he also worked as an administrator, he directed various original works. As an administrator, he has worked as Artistic Producing Director of Theatre X in Milwaukee, Artistic Producing Director of Timber Lake Playhouse, General Manager of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival and Production Coordinator at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.

Mr. Ramach worked on the production staff of the Kentucky Opera for seven seasons where he directed the world premieres of MUHAMMAD ALI; OUTSIDE THE RING, CHASING A PRECEDENT and NYIRAMACHABELLI for the Kentucky Opera Visions Program and DANSE RUSSE for the new opera composer workshop. He also wrote and directed a full-length production for the Great American Voices Program which was a National Endowment for the Arts/Opera America initiative. He has directed six of the company’s educational projects such as OPERA 101, A GILBERT AND SULLIVAN REVIEW and wrote three previous high school touring productions. In addition to the educational productions, he directed the tour of THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO.

Mr. Ramach is the Co-Director of the Opera Theatre program at the University of Louisville School of Music for 21 years during which time he has produced, directed and choreographed over 40 productions.
