Biography

Kathryn Ramsey, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and a member of the Center for Predictive Medicine for Emerging Infectious Diseases and Biodefense. Her laboratory studies the molecular mechanism of gene regulation in pathogenic bacteria. Current topics of research include how ribosome heterogeneity impacts translation and the molecular mechanisms that lead to altered expression of cell surface structures in an oral pathogen. Kathryn completed her doctoral and post-doctoral training with Dr. Simon Dove at Boston Children's Hospital and Havard Medical School. She initiated her independent research program at the University of Rhode Island and transitioned to the University of Louisville in 2024.
