Biography

Josh Pinkston is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Louisville, specializing in empirical microeconomics. His research covers a variety of topics spanning the economics of labor markets, health and personnel economics. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University. Before coming to Louisville, he worked as a Research Economist at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Research Interests

His research has covered a variety of topics spanning the economics of labor markets and health, including highly cited evaluations of policy responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, studies of employer learning about worker ability and discrimination in labor markets. He has also worked on studies of obesity, the reliance on friends and family in job search and effects of minimum wages.
