Biography

Jiachen Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences. Her research focuses on developing statistical and machine learning methods to understand aging and complex chronic diseases. Her methodological interests include high-dimensional statistics, graphical models, transfer learning, interpretable machine learning, and multi-omics integration. Her work brings together molecular omics profiles and longitudinal health data from population studies, electronic health records, and wearable devices to investigate frailty, multimorbidity, and cognitive aging, including Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Through this research, she seeks to characterize variation in aging trajectories, identify early indicators of functional and cognitive decline, and inform strategies to promote healthy aging.

Dr. Chen earned her Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Boston University and her M.S. in Biostatistics from Yale University. She is a recipient of an NIH F99/K00 award from the National Institute on Aging.
