Biography

Isabel C. Botero, Ph.D. holds the George E. and Mary Lee Fischer Chair in Family Entrepreneurship in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Louisville (Kentucky, USA). She is a 2022-2023 Fulbright Scholar and serves as an advisor with Generation 6 Family Enterprise Advisors. Dr. Botero is also a Senior Research Fellow at IAE Business School in Argentina and an Affiliated Researcher at the Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership at Jönköping University in Sweden. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Family Wealth Advising and is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). Her research explores the development and preparation of next-generation members in business families, strategic communication within family enterprises, governance practices, and the dynamics of entrepreneurial family firms. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Family Business Strategy, a past FOBI Scholar, and a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute. Her scholarly work has been published widely in journals and edited volumes on family business, management, and communication. Additionally, Dr. Botero serves on the board of IFERA – the International Family Enterprise Research Academy.
