Biography

I am a Professor and Vice-Chair for Research in Neurological Surgery and hold the Friends for Michael Endowed Chair. I have moderate teaching duties with 70% of my full-time effort reserved for research. I have mentored numerous Masters and PhD students and have had 5 students receive their PhDs since 2020. Over the past several years my research has focused on spinal cord circuitry, the central pattern generator for locomotion, adaptive and maladaptive plasticity, physical therapy (muscle stretch), activity-based rehabilitation and cardiovascular/vascular function in rat models of spinal cord injury.

Research Interests

Spinal cord locomotor circuitry, locomotion, spinal cord injury as a whole-body syndrome, animal models of spinal cord injury, translation, clinical rehabilitation.
