Biography
Dr. Amy Lawyer has dedicated over 15 years to higher education, specializing in teaching and outreach in Equine Business and Equine Science as well as Leadership and Managemen studies. Her academic work is complemented by extensive experience in the horse industry, where she has held roles in racing, showing, and animal health. Dr. Lawyer remains actively involved in the equine world, as she and her husband own and operate a small Thoroughbred breeding farm just outside of Louisville. Her combined academic and industry experience provides a well-rounded perspective to her work and teaching.
Research Interests
Dr. Amy Lawyer’s research focuses on applied studies within the horse industry. Her work explores key areas such as equine health and disease, reproduction, management practices, workforce development, rider and horse safety, and industry policy. By addressing real-world challenges, her research aims to support and advance the equine industry through practical, data-driven solutions.
