Biography
I am an industrial and organizational psychologist, Assistant Professor of Practice in Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Louisville College of Business, and Senior Management Consultant with Leadership Reality. I also serve as In-Person MBA Program Director and lead Human Resource Management program development. My background includes leadership roles in healthcare talent management, data analytics, and global talent development.
I believe work becomes more effective when it is meaningful. My teaching, scholarship, consulting, and service focus on helping people connect with a clear mission and helping leaders create environments that earn trust, commitment, and sustained effort. Within higher education, I apply that same philosophy by building programs, partnerships, and professional opportunities that connect learning with practice and prepare students to contribute meaningfully throughout their careers.
Research Interests
My research interests center on leadership, loyalty, interprofessional collaboration, and learning from errors. I am interested in how leaders and organizational environments shape trust, meaningful work, discretionary effort, and sustained commitment. My book project, The 9 Laws of Loyalty: Lessons in Loyalty from the Battlefield to the Boardroom, draws on qualitative analysis of interviews with 24 General Officers across four branches of the U.S. military to examine the relationship between leadership and loyalty.
My research also includes program evaluation in interprofessional education (IPE), examining students’ attitudes toward collaboration, understanding of professional roles, and learning across health professions. My work on learning from medical errors includes developing and evaluating an inventory of health professionals’ attitudes toward learning from errors and designing, implementing, and evaluating patient quality and safety training for fourth-year medical students. These interests connect through a broader concern with how education, leadership, and organizational practices support learning and improvement.
