Exemplary Advising Award recipient Eddie Bobbitt aims to help students ‘find their why’
Eddie Bobbitt is an Academic Advisor Senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. He has served our student for the past nine years in that role. The College of Arts and Sciences Advising department also recently won a ‘Best of Region’ award for academic advising at the Region 3 NACADA Conference.

Fulbright Scholar Ariel Weaver
Ariel Weaver has earned a Fulbright Study/Research Award to Namibia. Her work focused on using remote sensing and geographic technology to look at patterns on the landscape and use that information to inform policymakers and stakeholders in the community to manage land more effectively.

Arts & Sciences has banner year for prestigious scholars
Twenty-three students and alumni from the University of Louisville – 16 from the College of Arts & Sciences – earned some of the world’s most prestigious scholarships in 2016. The scholars will head to destinations throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
A&S junior Hannah Wilson earns Kentucky’s only Truman Scholar
College of Arts & Sciences junior Hannah Wilson (Political Science, Women’s & Gender Studies, and Philosophy) has earned a Truman Scholarship, a prominent award given to just 54 U.S. college students this year and valued at $30,000. She is Kentucky’s only 2016 Truman Scholar.

A&S Alumnus Junior Bridgeman receives honorary Doctor of Public Service degree
The University of Louisville will confer honorary degrees on Doris and Ulysses “Junior” Bridgeman Jr. during its Dec. 18, 2015 winter commencement. The Bridgemans are UofL graduates and each will receive a Doctor of Public Service (honoris causa) degree in recognition of their community service and support of the university.
Scientist, authors receive 2016 Grawemeyer Awards
In the College of Arts & Sciences, Prof. Woody Petry (Psychological & Brian Sciences) chairs the committee that administers the Grawemeyer Award in Psychology, which is given to those who are responsible for works that present new and creative ideas with clarity and power—ideas that substantially impact the field of psychology.

A&S Students Earn Prestigious Awards
Some of the most prominent awards in academia will go to 16 University of Louisville students and alumni. Of those 16 award winners, 14 are future graduates and alumni from the College of Arts & Sciences – including six Fulbrights, two Critical Language Scholars, one Truman Scholar and one English-Speaking Union Scholar.
