Kentucky & Southern Indiana Scholarships
Admission-Based Scholarships
We strongly encourage students with qualifying ACT/SAT scores to submit those to automatically receive their award.
Kentucky and Southern Indiana students* who meet the minimum criteria will automatically receive awards following admission to UofL. No scholarship application is required.
The University of Louisville guarantees Admission-Based Scholarships until May 1, 2022 for students entering UofL in the fall.
The scholarship amounts listed are available for students entering in Fall 2022.

Cardinal Commitment Grant
The University of Louisville is excited to offer the Cardinal Commitment Grant to first-time students from the state of Kentucky entering UofL in the fall of 2022. This grant is intended to provide Pell-eligible students who have demonstrated success in the classroom with the financial support needed to attend a four-year university. View details and criteria.
Competitive Scholarships
Students who are eligible to apply for competitive awards or enhancements will find their next steps in their UofL Application Gateway. The deadline to apply for these awards or enhancements and submit materials is December 15 unless otherwise noted.
Trustees' Competitive Scholarships
The University of Louisville will award approximately 150 Henry Vogt Scholarships of $16,000.
- Students who apply to UofL with a 30 ACT/1360 SAT and a 3.5 GPA will be eligible able to apply for this award through their UofL Application Gateway soon after applying to UoL.
- Students who apply to UofL without test scores will be evaluated, and eligible students will have the opportunity to apply for this award in the UofL Applicate Gateway once this evaluation is complete.
The consideration for these awards is primarily based on a student-involvement resume (view resume scoring rubric), as well as a student's grades and high school curriculum. The involvement resume should include but is not limited to
- honors and awards
- service
- extra-curricular activities
- work experience
Applicants not receiving the $16,000 Vogt Scholarship will be eligible for $1,000-7,000 awards, which can be stacked on Admission-Based Scholarships.
Woodford R. Porter Scholarship
Awarded to Black/African American students based on academic merit, leadership and service. Award values vary; 200+ awarded
Kentucky Dataseam Scholarship
Awarded to ten students from schools participating in the Dataseam research and workforce development program.
The Fall 2021 scholarship application will be available after application in your UofL Application Gateway.
- $2,000 renewable award; 10 awarded
- Students must meet the University of Louisville's admission standards and pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering or math while attending the University of Louisville.
- Students must submit a Kentucky Data Seam Scholarship application, a student-involvement resume, and request a letter of recommendation to be submitted by January 15.
Mentored Scholarships
In addition to monetary awards, these scholarships have significant programming components which can include travel, leadership, service, research and more. View resume scoring rubric.
- Students who are eligible to apply for Mentored Scholarships will find their next steps to in their UofL Application Gateway soon after they apply to UofL. The deadline to apply for these scholarships (and submit materials, including transcripts, letters of recommendations, essays, etc.) is December 15 unless otherwise noted.
