Learning & Performance Lab

Our research examines the working memory and executive attention mechanisms underlying learning and performance across a variety of skills (e.g., mathematics, creative problem solving, category learning, sensorimotor skill learning).

We investigate how individual differences and situational factors influence working memory and executive attention, and how changes in these cognitive processes translate into optimal—or sometimes suboptimal—learning and performance.

Our goal is to advance our basic understanding of the cognitive mechanisms that drive skill acquisition and performance and to use this work to inform educational practice.
