Admission Requirements

In addition to completing the application for admission and paying the $60 non-refundable application fee, applicants must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering*

  • 2.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on 4.0 scale

  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work from accredited institutions

  • Minimum Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores of 295 (combined verbal and quantitative.) If you completed the GRE prior to August 2012, the acceptable score is 1000 on the previous scale.

  • Two recommendation forms [PDF]

  • Credentials should be mailed to:

Applications received at least six weeks prior to the beginning of a term will be given priority.

International students' bachelor's degrees in engineering must be assessed to ensure that entrance requirements are met. If you live outside of the United States and intend to complete an online academic program from your home country, be sure to view special requirements for international students.

International students will not be issued a U.S. visa if admitted to the Master of Science in Civil Engineering online program, since there are no campus attendance requirements. All courses in the program are taught 100% online, allowing you to attain the entire degree from the comfort of your home and at any time convenient for you, regardless of your current location, anywhere in the world.
