National Surveys

As an important measure of student engagement and an indirect measure of student learning, IE administers a variety of national surveys each academic year. The survey results are analyzed, and specialized reports are created and made available to the campus community. The Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) is administered to incoming first-year students at New Student Orientation; the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is administered to first-year and senior students, and the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) and the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement for Graduate Teaching Instructors (FSSE-G) are administered to faculty or graduate students who teach at least one undergraduate course.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

The university compared students NSSE responses with faculty responses from the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) in order to determine where students' and faculty members' perceptions on engagement align and differ.
