About Us

The Hispanic Latin@ Faculty and Staff Association (HLFSA) advises the President and the University of Louisville community on the nature of issues and needs confronting the Hispanic/Latino Faculty, Staff, and Students in the University; provide assistance in evaluating University programs as they pertain to the Hispanic/Latin@ community; provide input to University and City of Louisville officials; and assist the Hispanic/Latino community to make the University system more accessible. It began operating in 2011. 

HLFSA meets every other month alternating locations between the Belknap Campus and the Heath Sciences Center

Alianzas Mentoring Program
The mentoring program has been designed to enhance the Hispanic/Latino students’ educational experience, morale, career planning, and professional competence.

The "Se habla Español" program was created for Medical students to practice their Spanish with native speakers that are HLFSA faculty/staff.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Taking place September 15 to October 15 every year, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures and extensive histories of the Latino/Latinx communities.
