Applications invited for Director of the Pharmacology & Toxicology Graduate Program and/or Department Vice Chair

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology invites applications for a tenure track or tenured faculty position (open rank). The administrative duties will include serving as Director of the Graduate Program, serving as the Department Vice Chair or both.  Interested individuals should apply at the UofL website.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology consists of 19 faculty with primary appointments and over 50 faculty members with secondary or emeritus appointments. Department extramural funding in 2021 was nearly $14M and as documented by the Blue Ridge Institute, the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology NIH funding ($9M) ranked within the top 25 Departments of Pharmacology in medical schools across the nation. 

The pharmacology and toxicology graduate program has awarded over 350 MS and PhD degrees since it was established in 1954.  Many of our graduate students have been recipients of top presentation and travel awards and NIH-funded predoctoral fellowships.  Our graduates are engaged in prestigious positions in academia, government, and industry.

The Department hosts a NIEHS P30 Center for Integrative Environmental Health Sciences, a NIEHS T32 pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training grant in environmental health sciences, and NCI R25 and NIEHS and NEI-funded T35 research training programs.  It partners extensively with numerous interdisciplinary centers and institutes, including:

  • Superfund Research Center
  • Envirome Institute
  • Alcohol Research Center
  • Brown Cancer Center
  • Center for Predictive Medicine
