University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics Highlights 2024 Graduating Class Achievements

The University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics proudly announces its 2024 graduating class of 17 Fellows and 29 Residents.

The University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics proudly announces its 2024 graduating class of 17 Fellows and 29 Residents. These dedicated medical professionals will continue their practices across 16 states and 25 cities, including more than two dozen who will remain in Louisville.

Fellowship Achievements:

  • Research Excellence: In the past year, Fellows secured nearly $13,000 in internal research funding, underscoring their commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare.
  • National Recognition: Twelve Fellows were awarded travel grants, enabling them to present their work at 17 national conferences. Over the past three years, they contributed to 25 national presentations and publications.
  • Diverse Expertise: Many Fellows enhanced their skills and perspectives with additional degrees in Health Professions Education, Health Care Ethics, and Business, enhancing their skills and perspectives.
  • Impactful Outreach: Three Fellows participated in the Department’s Global Health track, providing care at our partner teaching hospital in Tamale, Ghana in West Africa.

Resident Accomplishments and Future Endeavors:

  • Certified Excellence: Fifteen residents earned additional certificates in research, global health, advocacy, and medical education.
  • Diverse Career Paths: Graduating residents will embark on diverse career paths, including pursuing fellowships, assuming faculty roles, and practicing as general practitioners in private and group settings.
  • Leadership Roles: Three residents will continue their journey with us as Chief Residents, contributing their leadership and expertise within the Department of Pediatrics.

About the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics: The University of Louisville (UofL) Department of Pediatrics, part of UofL’s School of Medicine, aims to provide inclusive excellence in clinical care, medical education, pediatric research and community advocacy to meet the health-related needs of children. The faculty are researchers who explore innovation in pediatric medicine, serve on local, regional and national committees and organizations while helping set standards of care and formulate new models of treatment. They are educators, focused on training the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric specialists.
