Two Department of Pediatrics Faculty Promoted to Division Chief
Louisville- Two University of Louisville (UofL) Department of Pediatrics faculty will be promoted to Division Chief.
Dr. Amber Pendleton will lead the general pediatrics division alongside associate chief Dr. Jennifer Stiff, who served as Interim Chair of the division. Dr. Aaron Calhoun will lead the Critical Care Division, replacing former chief Dr. Vicki Montgomery.
“Stepping into this role is an honor,” says Dr. Pendleton. “Together with this team, we remain committed to the Division of General Pediatrics mission to achieve and maintain optimal physical, mental, and social well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.”
Dr. Pendleton earned her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington. She completed her internship in pediatrics at the University of Virginia Medical School, and her residency in pediatrics at the University of Virginia Medical Center, both in Charlottesville. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and has been with the UofL Department of Pediatrics since 2010.
Dr. Aaron Calhoun is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UofL and an attending physician in the "Just for Kids" Critical Care Center at Norton Children’s Hospital. He is an internationally recognized expert in simulation-based medical education who has been with the UofL Department of Pediatrics since 2007.
“We have big shoes to fill,” says Dr. Calhoun. “But I am excited to take on the challenge of leading the Critical Care Division.
Former Chiefs, Dr. Jennifer Stiff and Dr. Vicki Montgomery will remain with the UofL Department of Pediatrics, working closely with the new incoming chiefs.” Says UofL Department of Pediatrics Chair Dr. Kimberly Boland. “We can’t thank them enough for their amazing leadership.”
