Department of Pediatrics faculty and staff take home numerous University of Louisville School of Medicine Awards

December 2, 2025 (LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The Department of Pediatrics received seven wins and 12 nominations at the 2025 University of Louisville School of Medicine Faculty (ULSOM) and Staff Awards.

 

The annual awards honor ULSOM faculty and staff who bring distinction to our University through their commitment to the areas of service, education and research.

The 2025 faculty winners include:

Outstanding Research in Basic & Applied Sciences – Dr. Gregory Barnes, Director, University of Louisville Autism Research Center
Outstanding Education by Gratis Faculty – Dr. Vesna Kriss, Professor, Departments of Radiology and Pediatrics
Distinguished Service to the Profession – Dr. Kupper Wintergerst, Chief, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology
Distinguished Career of Service – Dr. Gerard Rabalais, Emeritus Chairman, Department of Pediatrics
Distinguished Service to the National/International Community – Dr. Mirzada Kurbasic, Professor, General Pediatrics

In addition, Dr. Brit Anderson, Department Advocacy Vice Chair, was nominated for Distinguished Service to the Community, the Commonwealth, and Region.

Unit Business Manager Joy Jeffries won top honors among ULSOM staff taking home the Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

2025 staff nominees include:
