Timothy Ford, DPM

Program Director

Dr. Ford is currently the Director of the Podiatric Residency & Fellowship Programs at the University of Louisville where he is the Chief of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. A former president of the Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association, Dr. Ford has also held the positions of Chairman of the Residency Review Committee and Chairman for the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Dr. Ford continues to review Residency and Fellowship Programs around the country for the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association, and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Ford actively participates in research in foot and ankle medicine with a special interest in wound care and trauma.

 

Jonathan Towarnicki, DPM

Associate Program Director

Dr. Jonathan Towarnicki is a Podiatric physician and surgeon in Louisville, Kentucky. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology at Virginia Tech, where he graduated with honors; he attended The Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.  Dr. Towarnicki then completed a 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Certification at the University of Louisville. During his final year of training, he served as Co-Chief Resident   After residency, Dr. Towarnicki was appointed as the Assistant Director of Podiatric Residency and Fellowship Training at the University of Louisville and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery within the department of Orthopedics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Towarnicki specializes in all aspects of foot and ankle trauma, diabetic limb salvage/wound care, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery; and has expertise in minimally invasive procedures of the foot and ankle including arthroscopic and endoscopic techniques. Dr. Towarnicki is board certified by both the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and has received a certificate of added qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care through the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.   In his spare time Dr. Towarnicki enjoys spending time with his wife and son, fishing, golfing, playing tennis, wakeboarding, and snowboarding.

 

Nicholas Laco, DPM

Associate Program Director & Externship Director

Dr. Laco is originally from Lakeville, Minnesota where he lived until moving to attend the University of North Dakota for is undergraduate education. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he then attended Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Laco went on to complete his residency at the University of Louisville. After residency Dr. Laco furthered his training by completing a fellowship in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery with limb salvage at the University of Louisville. Dr. Laco is board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Laco is currently an Assistant Professor of Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Louisville and Associate Director Podiatric Residency and Fellowship Programs. Dr. Laco actively participates in research and has been published in numerous journals.
