Applying / Are we a match?

The Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program offers six categorical positions each year.

  • We do not offer preliminary or part time positions.
  • The residency program participates in the National Ranking Matching Program (NRMP)
  • All applications must be submitted through ResidencyCAS.
  • We do not offer positions outside the match nor through any other mechanism than ResidencyCAS.

Applicant Qualifications

All Applicants-- One Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE) should be included in applicants’ ResidencyCAS packages. The SLOE will replace one of the traditional letters of recommendation (LOR) or the Chair’s letter; applicants should still include two OBGYN LORs (traditional or Chair where available) and one other LOR.

  • Our specialty will be implementing Program Signaling.
  • Each applicant may choose to send a total of 18 signals with their ResidencyCAS application (3 gold signals for programs of highest interest and 15 silver signals for programs of high interest).
  • Residency Programs must indicate participation when registering for ResidencyCAS.

All Applicants must have graduated medical school within the past 5 years of when the next academic year starts. (i.e., for Match 2025 - Graduation date 2020 in order to start 2025)

  • USMLE Requirements:
    • To be competitive, a PASS score on USMLE Step I and a 225 or above on USMLE Step II CK.
    • Results of the USMLE Step II CK must be received by Feb. 1, 2025, for the application to be considered for the rank list.
  • For our Osteopathic Applicants and the COMLEX/USMLE
    • USMLE is preferred as it can be difficult to compare COMLEX and USMLE scores.
    • You are NOT required to take the USMLE.
    • For those only taking the COMLEX, to be competitive, a score of 625 and above for both Level 1 and Level 2 is preferred.
  • For International Medical Graduates:
    • The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health at the University of Louisville only sponsors J1 visas.
    • You must have at least 6 months of direct patient care experience in the US Health Care System (Observerships do not meet this requirement).
    • ECFMG certification is required at the time of application.
  • Application deadline was October 1, 2023.
  • Initial interview invitations were extended on October 24th and 25th, 2023
    • Additional interviews will be offered, if openings are identified after initial invitations
    • All applicants will be notified of their final status (e.g., waitlist or rejection) by December 2, 2023

  • All interviews will be conducted virtually
    • To accommodate applicants from various time zones, we will offer
      • Morning sessions scheduled from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm EST
      • Afternoon sessions scheduled from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm EST
