About the Division

The University of Louisville Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes is dedicated to advancing the care of patients with endocrine disorders and diabetes in the greater Louisville region.

Under the direction of Dr. Sri Prakash L. Mokshagundam, the Division plays a leading role in medical education. We offer a Fellowship Training Program for physicians in Internal Medicine to receive subspecialty training for board certification.

Residents in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Med-Peds and Family Medicine receive didactic and clinical teaching from the division faculty. Medical students rotate through the clinical and research programs in the division.

The Division conducts basic and clinical research that utilizes techniques of molecular and cellular biology, physiologic studies in humans, and clinical trials of new therapeutics.

Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes consultants from the University of Louisville provide care to patients at the UofL Health - UofL Hospital, the Robley Rex VA Medical Center, UofL Health - Jewish Hospital, UofL Health - Frazier Rehab Institute, and Norton Hospital with state-of-the-art clinical diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that are based on the most current research.

Outpatient clinics are provided at the UofL Physicians Outpatient Center and the Louisville VA Medical Center.

Endocrine diseases include those of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, gonads (male and female sex glands), as well as diabetes, hypoglycemia. dyslipidemia (high cholesterol) and metabolic bone disease including osteoporosis.
